Instagram Stories is a huge hit for a reason: they are fun and easy to use. Not only are they simple to create, but they also provide an excellent opportunity to give your fans a sneak peak into your personal life.
The only major issue people had with Stories when they first came out was that they only lasted 24 hours before disappearing, so if you didn’t save a Story to your Camera Roll, you’d lose it forever. Late in 2017, Instagram introduced Highlights, a permanent online archive for your Stories. Follow along as we cover all you need to know about Instagram Highlights and how to put them to work for you to display your greatest Stories.
An Overview of Instagram Highlights and How to Make the Most of Them?
Instagram Highlights allow you to compile and showcase your Archived Stories in one convenient location on your profile. They’ll be shown under your bio until you decide to delete them.
Putting up your first Instagram Highlight
The good news is that making a new Highlight on Instagram is not hard to do. Listed below are the steps for making a new Instagram Highlight:
- Insta must be opened.
- To access your profile, select the corresponding symbol in the page’s footer (see citation below).
- Finally, click the “New” option that appears as a plus sign beneath your Instagram bio.
- Navigate your Story library to find the media you’d like to include in your new Highlight, then tap on it.
- Choose the Next button.
- Create a new Highlight and give it a name.
- Put a ‘add’ in the box and press enter.
When you’ve finished the above, your new Highlight will appear on your profile beneath your bio, where all of your followers may view it.
Using a cover photo into an Instagram Highlight
If you choose a Story from your Highlights to be the homepage cover, Instagram will do it at random. You may change the cover photo for your Instagram Highlights if you don’t want Instagram to pick it automatically.
Add a Highlight cover by following these steps:
- Insta must be opened.
- To access your profile, click the little profile picture in the lower right corner of the screen.
- To add a new Instagram account, tap the plus sign that appears below your bio.
- To create a new Highlight, browse your Stories Archive and select the media you’d want to use.
- Continue by clicking the Next button.
- Just hit the “Name” button and give your new Highlight a descriptive title.
- Just click “Edit Cover.”
- Use your finger to scroll through the available Stories until you find the one you wish to edit.
- Adjust the image’s placement anyway you like.
- To finish, click the button.
- Put a ‘add’ in the box and press enter.
Highlights: A Guide to Editing
When a new Highlight has been added to your homepage, you may tweak it to suit your preferences. Whenever you wish, you may update the Stories with new ones, delete old ones, or even swap out the cover image.
To modify an existing Highlight, please follow these steps:
- Insta must be opened.
- To access your profile, click the little profile picture in the lower right corner of the screen.
- To make changes to a highlighted area, use the area’s Highlight button.
- To expand, use the ellipses (three horizontal dots) in the page’s lower right corner.
- Choose Highlight Editing.
- There, you may choose “Edit Cover,” deselect previously added Stories to remove them from the Highlight, or tap Stories to add new Stories.
- After you’re finished, select the final option.
Taking Down a Highlight on Instagram
The steps below will show you how to delete a Highlight from your Instagram account.
- Insta must be opened.
- To access your profile, click the little profile picture in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Choose the highlighted item that you wish to remove.
- Then, in the page’s lower-right corner, press the three vertical dots.
- You can uncheck the highlighted items.
- Confirm the deletion by tapping the corresponding button.
With this action, the Highlight will be removed from your account.
Does Instagram let you track who views your highlights?
Instagram Highlights don’t let you track your audience like Stories can. Just the total number of times it was viewed while it was featured on your Stories will be displayed. The Story’s bottom left corner displays that digit.
You may check who has viewed your Story during the first 24 hours after you upload it. Once the 24-hour period has passed, however, the broadcast is stored and the identities of your viewers are no longer visible.
When it comes to Instagram, how many highlights are too many?
Don’t forget that Instagram only lets you highlight 100 stories’ worth of content while you’re adding photographs and videos to your story. As soon as you go above that number, the oldest Story on the Highlight will be removed to make way for the newer one.
Can you rearrange the highlights in your story?
Indeed, you can. The highlights from your profile will appear in reverse chronological order. A Highlight will automatically advance in the list if a new Story is added to it.
Highlights can be prioritised by adding a new Narrative to them, as described above.
Instagram Highlights are a wonderful way to show off your life’s many facets to the world. You may use Highlights to ensure that your Stories are properly structured and accessible to all of your followers, whether you want to boast about your trip to Hawaii or advertise your favourite tech products.
